The Alyeska Shear Test is an international test standard and one of the heaviest tests in which the shear resistance of a coating is tested.
Test was done at Charter Coating Service in Calgary and it appeared that at 23 C/73,4 F no grip on the ViscoWrap coating could be obtained and no shear was present ! The test was conducted again at an elevated temperature of 80 C/175 F. A perfect cohesive fracture was obtained during a 5 mm/hours shear in which the material broke apart leaving a corrosion protective layer of ViscoWrap on the pipe, characteristic for a viscous elastic material. The material performance of ViscoWrap at 80 C/175 Ft appeared to be extremely good.
